Reaction Steps
2.0 g of 7-amino-6-nitro-2-phenyl-5H-thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-5-one was suspended in 50 ml of 90% dioxane, and 3.0 g of tin powder and 5 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid were added thereto, followed by stirring the mixture at 80° to 90° C. for 30 minutes. Any insoluble material was removed by filtration, and the filtrate was concentrated. After cooling, the precipitate formed was separated by filtration and added to concentrated aqueous ammonia. The precipitate was separated by filtration and recrystallized from dimethylformamide to obtain 6,7-diamino-2-phenyl-5H-thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-5-one as yellow needles having a melting point higher than 300° C.
