3-Methylbenzoyl chloride (14 mg, 0.09 mmol) was added to a mixture of 1-methyl-1H-spiro[chromeno[4,3-c]pyrazole-4,4′-piperidine]dihydrochloride (30 mg, 0.09 mmol), triethylamine (64 μL, 0.46 mmol), and DMF (0.7 mL) at 25° C. The mixture was allowed to stir at 50° C. overnight before it was cooled to 25° C. The mixture was filtered and then purified by reverse phase-HPLC to give (1-methyl-1H-spiro[chromeno[4,3-c]pyrazole-4,4′-piperidine]-1′-yl)(m-tolyl)methanone. ESI-MS m/z calc. 373.2. found 374.2 (M+1)+. Retention time: 2.04 minutes (4 min run).
