Procedure

7 g of (S)-4-Benzyloxycarbonylamino-5-oxo-5-[4-(3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-piperazin-1-yl]-pentanoic acid tert-butyl ester were dissolved in 120 ml of EtOH and 70 mg of Pd/C 10% was added. Hydrogenation under 3 bar of hydrogen was continued until full conversion of the reaction was obtained. After filtration of the catalyst all volatiles were evaporated under reduced pressure to give 4.4 g of the desired product.
