4-Ethyl-1-piperidin-1-ylhexan-1-one (59.8 g) was dissolved in toluene (500 mL). To the solution was added (Ph3P)IrCl(CO) (95.9 mg). To the mixture was added 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane (82.3 mL) in a water-bath. The mixture was stirred in a water-bath for 3 hr. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (98.1 g) as a crude product.
