Procedure
A solution of 4-chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl isocyanate (101.1 g) in dichloromethane (250 mL) was added to a reaction mixture containing 4-(2-(N-methylcarbamoyl)-4-pyridyloxy)aniline (110.0 g) in dichloromethane (250 mL) at about 0° C. in about 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for about 16 hours. The resulting solid was filtered, washed with dichloromethane (2×200 mL) and dried under reduced pressure at about 35° C. for about 4 hours to obtain sorafenib free base.
