As described for Intermediate 1, (5-methyl-3-phenyl-isoxazol-4-yl)-methanol (1.0 g, 5.3 mmol) was converted, using 3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-isoxazole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester (756 mg, 5.3 mmol) instead of 3-hydroxy-5-methylisoxazole, to the title compound (1.04 g, 63%) which was obtained as a colourless gum after purification by chromatography (silica, heptane:ethyl acetate=4:1 to 0:1). MS: m/e=315.0 [M+H]+.
