To a solution of 3-(5-methyl-3-pyridin-2-yl-isoxazol-4-ylmethoxy)-isoxazole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester (450 mg, 1.43 mmol) in dioxane (5 mL) was added aqueous sodium hydroxide (2 N, 3 mL). After heating at reflux for 1 h the mixture was cooled to room temperature and acidified with HCl (4 N, 2 mL). Purification by filtration and drying afforded the title compound (400 mg, 93%) which was obtained as a white solid. MS: m/e=300.1 [M−H]−.
