By following the procedure for the preparation of N-(5-chloro-2-fluorobenzyl)-2,2-dimethoxyacetamide, the title compound was prepared from 3-(trifluoromethoxy)benzylamine (4.0 g, 21 mmol) and methyl dimethoxyacetate (2.8 g, 21 mmol). 1H NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz): δ=3.40 (s, 6H), 4.44 (d, J=4.2 Hz, 2H), 4.75 (s, 1H), 6.95 (bs, 1H), 7.11 (s, 2H), 7.20 (d, J=2.4 Hz, 1H), 7.35-7.40 (m, 1H).
