Reaction Steps
Sodium borohydride (8 mg, 0.21 mmol) was added to a solution of N,N-dimethyl-2-[2-(4-pyridin-2-ylphenyl)ethyl]-4-{[1-(trifluoromethyl)cyclobutyl]carbonyl}-1H-imidazole-1-sulfonamide (106 mg, 0.21 mmol) in methanol (3 mL) at 0° C. followed by 1 drop of water. The resulting solution was stirred at rt for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was partially concentrated and partitioned between 1N aqueous sodium hydroxide and ethyl acetate. The organic phase was washed with brine, dried (sodium sulfate) and concentrated to give a residue. Chromatography of the residue over silica gel eluting with 40-100% ethyl acetate/hexane afforded 4-{hydroxy[1-(trifluoromethyl)cyclobutyl]methyl)-N,N-dimethyl-2-[2-(4-pyridin-2-ylphenyl)ethyl]-1H-imidazole-1-sulfonamide.
