The title compound was prepared from the above described solution of 3-[6-methyl-4-(4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-[2,4′]bipyridinyl-2′-yl]-benzenesulfonyl chloride (ca. 0.2 g, 0.41 mmol) by treatment with excess morpholine in THF (5 mL) at 50° C. for 16 h. Cooled to rt, diluted with EtOAc, washed with 1 N HCl, dried organic layer over Na2SO4. Removal of the solvent in vacuum left a crude product, which was purified by silica gel column chromatography with n-heptane/EtOAc followed by trituration with n-heptane/diethyl ether to give the title compound (0.150 g, 68%) as a white solid. MS (ISP) 539.9 [(M+H)+]; mp 115° C.
