11.5 g (0.042 mol) of 3-[6-(2-fluoro-phenyl)-pyridin-3-yl]-propionic acid ethyl ester were dissolved in 230 ml ethanol, 7.7 ml of a 32% sodium hydroxide solution were added, and the mixture stirred at 45 to 50° C. for 1 h. After evaporation to dryness, the remaining solid was taken up in 100 ml of water, the pH was adjusted to 2.5 to 3 with 2 N hydrochloric acid, and the precipitated product was filtered off with suction. The solid was rinsed with water and dried. Yield 10.0 g.
