888.7 mg (8.78 mmol) of triethylamine were added dropwise with caution to a solution of 1000 mg (4.39 mmol) of 4-(4-chloro-phenyl)-thiazole-2-thiol and 856.5 mg (4.39 mmol) of bromoacetic acid tert-butyl ester in 15 ml of DMF. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1.5 h. Then water was added, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic phases were dried and evaporated. Yield: 1.44 g.
