A stirred mixture of 2-chloro-quinoline-6-carboxylic acid ethyl ester [CAS-No. 29969-56-0] (500 mg, 2.12 mmol) and commercially available (R)-1-aminoindane (848 mg, 6.36 mmol) was heated in a sealed tube for 16 h at 120° C. Purification by flash chromatography on silica gel (ethyl acetate/heptane) yielded 2-((R)-indan-1-ylamino)-quinoline-6-carboxylic acid ethyl ester as a light brown solid (672 mg, 95%), MS (ISP) 333.2 [(M+H)+]; m.p. 137° C.
