Reaction Steps

A mixture of the 1,3-diketone obtained in step 3 (1.0 equiv.), hydroxylamine hydrochloride (1.5 equiv.), pyridine (2.0 equiv.) and ethanol was heated to reflux overnight. Cooled in rt and removed solvent in vacuo. Water and ethyl acetate were added. The organic layer was separated, washed with dil. HCl, lurine, dried, filtered and the solvent was concentrated in vacuo. The product 1-[4,5-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)isoxazol-3-yl]-4-methoxybenzene was obtained as an off while solid.
