Sodium methanolate methanol → aldehydo-L-arabinose
Reaction equation
C(O)(=O)C.[O:5]=[CH:6][C@@H:7]([C@H:9]([C@H:11]([CH2:13][OH:14])[OH:12])[OH:10])[OH:8].C[O-].[Na+].CO>>[O:5]=[CH:6][C@@H:7]([C@H:9]([C@H:11]([CH2:13][OH:14])[OH:12])[OH:10])[OH:8]Participants

Procedure
Yet further preferably, the isolated L-arabinose acetate is hydrolyzed with a NaOMe/MeOH solution or an aqueous NH4 solution to provide a L-arabinose fraction. The hydrolysis is preferably conducted at a temperature of from about 25° C. to about 65° C. for from about 0.1 h to about 24 h. Still further, the isolated xylan acetate is hydrolyzed with a NaOMe/MeOH solution or an aqueous NH4 solution to provide a D-xylose fraction. The hydrolysis is preferably conducted at a temperature of from about 25° C. to about 65° C. for from about 0.1 h to about 24 h.
