Reaction Steps

To 25 ml of an ethanol solution of 911.3 mg (2.53 mmol) of 1-benzyloxycarbonyl-3-[(1S,2S)-2-t-butoxycarbonylaminocyclopropyl]pyrrolidine (isomer B1) was added 900 mg of 5% palladium-on-carbon, and the mixture was shaken in a hydrogen stream (4.5 kg/cm2) for 1.5 hours. To the reaction mixture was added 100 mg of 5% palladium-on-carbon, followed by shaking in a hydrogen stream (4.0 kg/cm2) for 1 hour. The catalyst was removed by filtration, and the solvent was removed by evaporation under reduced pressure to give 572.2 mg (quantitative) of the title compound as a colorless solid.
