This compound was prepared in a manner similar to that of 5'-fluoro-2'-methoxy-4-nitro-2-biphenylcarboxylic acid (EXAMPLE 107) from methyl-5'-chloro-2'-methoxy-4-nitro-2-biphenylcarboxylate (0.83 g, 2.6 mmol) to afford 0.75 g (95%) of 5'-chloro-2'-methoxy-4-nitro-2-biphenylcarboxylic acid as a yellow solid. Data for (5'-chloro-2'-methoxy-4-nitro-2-biphenyl)carboxylic acid: 1 H NMR (400 MHz, acetone-d6) 8.69 (d, J=2.5, 1 H); 8.46 (dd, J=8.3, 2.6, 1 H); 7.68 (d, J=8.5, 1 H); 7.41 (dd, J=8.9, 2.7, 1 H); 7.33 (d, J=2.8, 1 H); 7.08 (d, J=8.6, 1 H); 3.75 (s, 3 H).
