By following the procedure of section (a) of this example but replacing (S)-1-phenylethylamine with twice the equivalent amount of 1-(naphthylmethyl)amine and omitting the triethylamine, N,N-dimethyl-2-[(1-naphthylmethyl)-amino]acetamide [1H NMR(CDCl3) δ 8.25 (dd, J=1.2 Hz,8.0 Hz,1H), 7.86 (dd, J=1.8 Hz,7.6 Hz,1H), 7.79 (broad d, J=8.1 Hz,1H), 7.60-7.39 (m,4H), 4.30 (s,2H), 3.52 (s,2H), 2.97 (s,3H), 2.90 (s,3H)] was obtained.
