Reaction Steps
7-Acetyl-5-nitro-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran (D9) (500 mg) was stirred and heated to 80° C. for 1 h with tert-butoxy-bis (dimethylamino) methane (1.08 ml), then the mixture was cooled and partitioned between Na2 CO3 and ethyl acetate. The organic phase was dried (Na2 SO4) and the solvent evaporated under reduced pressure to leave the title compound (0.5 g, 80%).
