A solution of 1,1-dimethylethyl (2,3-dihydro[1,4]dioxino[2,3-c]pyridin-7-ylmethyl)[1-(2-[7-(methyloxy)-2-oxo-3,4-dihydro-1,8-naphthyridin-1(2H)-yl]-1-{[(phenylmethyl)oxy]methyl}ethyl)-4-piperidinyl]carbamate (167 mg, 0.248 mmol) in ethanol (20 ml) was hydrogenated at 1 atmosphere hydrogen pressure for approximately 9 days. The reaction was filtered through Celite and washed with ethanol. The combined filtrate and washings were evaporated under reduced pressure to afford the product (162 mg, 91%).
