A solution of 2-benzyl-7-methoxy-6-triisopropylsilyloxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline (1 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was stirred with a 1M solution of TBAF/THF (1.1 mmol) for 60 minutes at RT. After addition of water, the organics were extracted with ethyl acetate (80 mL) and the organic layer washed with water, brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residual oil/solid was purified by flash chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate).
