A solution of [8-chloro-2-difluoromethoxy-4-methyl-3-(4-pyrazol-1-ylbenzyl)quinolin-5-yloxy]acetic acid methyl ester (0.38 g) in methanol (7.0 mL) and water (0.7 mL) was treated with 5.0M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (0.32 mL), and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The mixture was acidified by the addition of glacial acetic acid, diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts were dried over magnesium sulfate and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by trituration with methanol, followed by column chromatography on silica gel to afford title compound as a white solid (0.036 g).
