A solution of [8-chloro-2-isopropyl-4-methyl-3-(4-pyrazol-1-ylbenzyl)quinolin-5-yloxy]acetic acid methyl ester (0.087 g) in tetrahydrofuran (3.0 mL) and 1.0M aqueous lithium hydroxide solution (0.5 mL) was stirred at room temperature for three hours. The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the pH adjusted to 4 by the addition of 0.1M aqueous hydrochloric acid (3 mL). The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate and the combined extracts washed with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution and dried over magnesium sulfate. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue purified by column chromatography on silica gel, eluting with a mixture of cyclohexane, ethyl acetate and formic acid (1:0:0:0.001 to 0:1:0.001 by volume) to afford title compound as pale yellow solid (0.06 g).
