Reaction Steps
A mixture of [5-fluoro-3-(2-benzenesulfonylthiophen-3-ylmethyl)-2-methylindol-1-yl]acetic acid methyl ester (0.18 g), tetrahydrofuran (4.0 mL) and methanol (2.0 mL) was treated with 1.0 M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (2.0 mL), and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The mixture was acidified by the addition of 1.0 M aqueous hydrochloric acid solution and concentrated to low bulk under reduced pressure. The resulting precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with water and dried to afford the title compound as a white solid (0.16 g).
