A mixture of {5-fluoro-2-methyl-3-[2-(methylphenylsulfamoyl)pyridin-3-ylmethyl]indol-1-yl}acetic acid methyl ester (0.14 g), 1.0 M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (1.0 mL) and methanol (10 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1.5 hours. The mixture was diluted with 1.0 M aqueous hydrochloric acid solution and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with 1.0 M aqueous hydrochloric acid solution and the resulting precipitate was collected by filtration and dried to give the title compound as a white solid (0.10 g).
