A mixture of [5-fluoro-2-methyl-3-(2-phenylsulfamoylpyridin-3-ylmethyl)indol-1-yl]acetic acid methyl ester (0.20 g), 1.0 M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (0.50 mL) and methanol (10 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was diluted with 1.0 M aqueous hydrochloric acid solution. The resulting precipitate was collected by filtration and purified by preparative reverse-phase HPLC, eluting with a mixture of acetonitrile and water (3:7 to 9:1 by volume) to afford the title compound (0.020 g).
