According to Scheme 27 Step 1: The title compound was prepared from 5-bromopyrazin-2(1H)-one (1 eq, 2.86 mmol, 0.50 g) and 1-(bromomethyl)-4-chlorobenzene (1.5 eq, 4.29 mmol, 0.88 g) according to the procedure described for Example 1 Step 2. Reaction conditions: 3 hours at 70° C. in acetonitrile. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography over silica gel (AIT Flashsmart prepacked column 25 g SiO2) using pure AcOEt as eluent to afford 1-(4-chlorobenzyl)-5-bromopyrazin-2(1H)-one (2.48 mmol, 0.74 g, 87%) as a white solid.
