Procedure

A solution of 1,2-epithio-2-hexyl-3-butene (40 mg, 0.24 mmol) and Cu(hfacac)2 (1.2 mg, 2.4 μmol) in benzene (1 mL) was heated at 80° C. for 0.5 h in a pressure tube. Concentration of the solvent in vacuo afforded a residue, which was purified by column chromatography (n-pentane) to give 3-Hexyl-2,5-dihydrothiophene (37 mg, 93%) as a colorless oil.
