Procedure

A solution of 2-methyl-3,4-epithio-1-nonene (50 mg, 0.29 mmol) and Cu(hfacac)2 (14.5 mg, 29 μmol) in benzene (29 mL) was heated to 80° C. for 20 h under N2. After cooling, concentration of the solvent in vacuo afforded a residue, which was purified by column chromatography (n-pentane) to give 4-Methyl-2-pentyl-2,5-dihydrothiophene (46 mg, 92%) as a colorless oil.
