0.5 g of the styrene-maleic anhydride polymer (molecular weight: 1600) was mixed with 1.5 g of polyethyleneoxyglycol (molecular weight: 600) and 0.5 g of lithium trifluoromethane sulfonate salt. The mixture was dropped on an ion-conducting glass electrode and heated in an oven at 100° C. under nitrogen stream. After 30 hours, the mixture was cooled to room temperature and immersed in methanol and dried. A thin membrane of styrene-maleic acid polyethyleneoxy ester copolymer of an excellent adhesive strength and mechanical strength was prepared. The ion conductivity of the polymer thin membrane prepared as above was 7×10-7S/cm at room temperature.
