Employing the same general procedure as used for the preparation of ethyl 3-[5,5,8,8,-tetramethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-naphth-2-yl]propiolate (Compound A) but instead using 1.86 g (10 mmols) of [4,4-dimethylchroman-6-yl]ethyne, 2 g (21.3 mmols) of methylchloroformate and 11 mmols of n-butyllithium the title compound was obtained as a yellow solid.
