Procedure
10 Grams of 6-allyloxy-2(1H)-quinolinone was suspended in 50 ml of tetralin, and this suspension was stirred at 200° to 230° C. for 4 hours in nitrogen gas atmosphere. After the reaction, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature. The crystals thus precipitated were collected by filtration, washed with n-hexane and a small amount of diethyl ether in this order and dried. There was obtained 10 g (100%) of 5-allyl-6-hydroxy-2(1H)-quinolinone as crystalline powder. Melting point: Decomposed from 290° C.
