A solution of ethyl 6-(2-(tert-butoxycarbonyl-(isopropyl)amino)thiazol-5-yl)-8-phenylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-2-carboxylate (1.00 g, 2.0 mmol) in THF/MeOH (2:1, 15 mL) was treated with 1 N NaOH (5 mL, 5 mmol) at room temperature for 5 hours. The organic solvents were removed under vacuum and the aqueous residue was acidified with 1 N HCl and the solids extracted into CH2Cl2. The extracts were washed with water and concentrated to give 940 mg of 6-(2-(tert-butoxycarbonyl(isopropyl)-amino)thiazol-5-yl)-8-phenylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid as a yellow solid. LCMS (Conditions C): 3.98 min (RT); (M+H)+=479.43 (100%).
