To a solution of (R)-benzyl 4-(dimethylamino)-3-(6-phenoxypyridine-3-sulfonamido)butanoate in CH2Cl2 (2 mL) was added methyl iodide (100 pit). The reaction was stirred overnight and concentrated to dryness to give the title compound in quantitative yield. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ ppm 8.63 (s, 1H), 8.26 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 1H), 7.43 (t, J=7.7 Hz, 2H), 7.39-7.29 (m, 5H), 7.13 (d, J=8.1 Hz, 2H), 6.99 (d, 1H, J=8.8 Hz, 1H) 5.14-5.03 (m, 2H), 4.49-4.41 (m, 1H), 4.36-4.30 (m, 1H), 3.74-3.71 (m, 1H), 3.42 (s, 9H), 2.91-2.84 (m, 1H), 2.46-2.42 (m, 1H).
