Reaction Steps

A mixture of (E)-3-amino-6-bromo-N-(ethanoyloxy)pyrazine-2-carboximidamide (8.405 g, 22.71 mmol) and AcOH (30 mL) was heated to 70° C. for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool, diluted with water and then neutralised with solid NaHCO3. The resultant dark coloured precipitate was filtered off (3.83 g, 66% Yield). 1H NMR (400.0 MHz, DMSO) d 2.68 (s, 3H), 7.31 (br s, 2H) and 8.34 (s, 1H) ppm; MS (ES+) 258.80
