p-Toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate (26.7 mg, 0.140 mmol) was added to a stirred solution of 5-chloro-4-(tetrahydro-pyran-2-yloxymethyl)-nicotinic acid methyl ester (20 mg, 0.070 mmol) in MeOH (4 mL). After stirring for 60 min at room temperature, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was partitioned between EA (10 mL) and saturated NaHCO3 solution (10 mL). After extraction of the aqueous layer with DCM (2×10 mL) the combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting title compound was used for the next reaction without purification. MS (m/z): 202.0 [M+H+].
