Procedure

To a solution of N-[(3-methoxyphenyl)sulfonyl]acetamide (0.4 g, 1.75 mmol) in DCM at 0° C. was added BBr3 and the reaction was stirred at rt for 2 h. The reaction was quenched with pH=4 buffer and extracted with EtOAc. The organic phase was dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to afford the title compound. LC-MS: m/e 216 (M+H)+ (0.5 min).
