Procedure

5-Chloro-2-methyl-N-(3-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl)-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxamide (100 mg, 0.26 mmol) was dissolved in MeOH (10 ml) together with sodium methoxide (30 mg, 0.55 mmol) and refluxed for 18 hours. The reaction was cooled and evaporated, the residue was purified by flash chromatography using CH2Cl2/CH3OH (20:1→10:1) as eluent to give 77 mg (79%) of 5-methoxy-2-methyl-N-(3-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl)-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxamide as a pale mass.
