HBr (33% in acetic acid) (7 mL) was added to a reaction flask containing (2R,4S)-methyl 2-(cyclohexylmethyl)-4-(3-oxo-2,3-dihydroisoxazol-5-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (0.11 g, 0.34 mmol). The reaction was stirred vigorously overnight. The solvent was evaporated. Purification using preparative HPLC (pH=11, small column, sample dissolved in methanol/water (50/50), gradient 0-40, 20 minutes) gave the title compound (62 mg, yield 69%). 1H NMR (600 MHz, cd3od) δ 0.94 (s, 2H), 1.18 (s, 1H), 1.27 (s, 2H), 1.35-1.55 (m, 3H), 1.57-1.80 (m, 6H), 2.01 (s, 1H), 2.13 (s, 1H), 2.24 (s, 1H), 3.09 (s, 1H), 3.22 (s, 3H), 5.53 (s, 1H).
