Following the procedure as described in PREPARATION 3A, and making non-critical variations using 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-6-ol to replace 3-methoxy-4-methylphenol, and 4-chloro-1-(diphenylmethyl)-1H-indole-2,3-dione to replace 1-benzhydrylindoline-2,3-dione, 4-chloro-1-(diphenylmethyl)-3-hydroxy-3-(6-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one was obtained (87%) as a beige solid: 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.66 (br s, 1H), 7.36-7.16 (m, 10H), 7.05-7.01 (m, 2H), 6.89 (s, 1H), 6.58 (s, 1H), 6.45-6.38 (m, 2H), 4.57-4.49 (m, 2H), 4.03 (br s, 1H), 3.13-2.91 (m, 2H); MS (ES+) m/z 505.9 (M+1), 507.9 (M+1).
