Following the procedure as described in EXAMPLE 3 and making non-critical variations using 1′-(diphenylmethyl)-5-fluorospiro[1-benzofuran-3,3′-indol]-2′(1′H)-one to replace 1′-(diphenylmethyl)-6-methoxy-5-methylspiro[1-benzofuran-3,3′-indol]-2′(1′H)-one, 5-fluoro-spiro[1-benzofuran-3,3′-indol]-2′(1′H)-one was obtained (87%): mp 224-226° C.; 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ10.65 (s, 1H), 7.23 (ddd, J=7.7, 7.7, 0.9 Hz, 1H), 7.09 (d, J=7.0 Hz, 1H), 7.06-6.87 (m, 4H), 6.58 (dd, J=8.0, 2.7 Hz, 1H), 4.80 (d, J=9.3 Hz, 1H), 4.67 (d, J=9.3 Hz, 1H); 13C NMR (75 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 178.2, 158.9, 157.1, 142.3, 132.4, 131.3, 131.1, 129.5, 124.3, 122.8, 116.5, 116.2, 111.0, 110.9, 110.7, 110.4, 80.2, 58.4; MS (ES+) m/z 260.0 (M+1).
