Procedure

4′-Bromo-1′-methylspiro[furo[2,3-f][1,3]benzodioxole-7,3′-indol]-2′(1′H)-one (0.32 g, 8.58 mmol) was resolved on a semi-preparative chiral column (CHIRALPAK-IA, Chiral Technologies, Inc.) eluted with 5% acetonitrile in tert-butylmethylether at 30 mL/min. Each run consisted of 50 mg of the racemate dissolved in acetonitrile/tert-butylmethylether (1:1). (7R)-4′-bromo-1′-methylspiro[furo[2,3-f][1,3]benzodioxole-7,3′-indol]-2′(1′H)-one (0.14 g, 86%) was the first enantiomer to elute and was obtained as a crystalline colorless solid: mp 226-228° C. (acetonitrile/tert-butylmethylether); 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 7.31-7.23 (m, 1H), 7.20-7.15 (m, 1H), 7.12-7.08 (m, 1H), 6.59 (s, 1H), 6.28 (s, 1H), 5.92-5.87 (m, 2H), 4.82 (d, J=9.7 Hz, 1H), 4.67 (d, J=9.7 Hz, 1H), 3.15 (s, 3H); MS (ES+) m/z 373.8, 375.8 (M+1).
