Procedure
Cool boron tribromide (3.5 mL, 1M solution in dichloromethane) in dichloromethane at 0° C. and add dropwise a solution of 7-chloro-6-(2-methoxyphenyl)-3-(2,2,2-trifluoroacetyl)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[d]azepine (840 mg, 2.19 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL). Stir at room temperature for 6 h. Partition between iced water and EtOAc. Dry the organic layer over Na2SO4, filter and concentrate in vacuo to obtain the desired intermediate as a white solid (800 mg, 99%).
