{2-Methyl-4-[3-phenylethynyl-5-(5-trifluoromethyl-pyridin-2-yloxy)-phenylsulfanyl]-phenoxy}-acetic acid ethyl ester (150 mg; 0.266 mmol) was dissolved in THF (2 mL) and ethanol (4 mL), and aqueous 1 N sodium hydroxide (3 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for ½ h. acidified with 5% aqueous citric acid and extracted with ethyl acetate, dried and evaporated to dryness. Yield: 100 mg (75%). HPLC-MS: m/z: 535.7 (M)+; Rt: 2.78 min.
