Reaction Steps

A mixture of 3-(1-hydroxycyclopropyl)-2-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)propyl methanesulfonate (1.3 g, 4.63 mmol) and NaH (0.15 g, 6 mmol, Aldrich) in 20 mL of THF was stirred at rt for 4 hrs. The reaction mixture was quenched with 5 mL of methanol. The mixture was diluted with 10 mL of water and extracted with ethyl acetate (30 mL×3). The combined organic phases were dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by a silica gel column chromatography (1:10 (v/v) EtOAc/petroleum ether) to give the title compound as colorless oil (380 mg, 42%).
