Reaction Steps
To a flask were added 2.0 g bis(4-methoxyphenyl)phosphinic acid, 3.0 g of a 55-60% solution of tetrabutylammonium hydroxide in water, 2.0 g of water and 18 ml 2-propanol. After heating to 50 C under nitrogen for 1 hour, the solvent was removed and another 20 ml of 2-propanol were added and removed by distillation under reduced pressure. A waxy solid was obtained.
