To a solution of (3S,5R)-1-[4-(4-chlorophenoxy)phenyl]-5-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-3-(3-hydroxypropyl)pyrrolidin-2-one (34 mg, 0.070 mmol) in DCM (3 mL) at 0° C. is added MsCl (50 μL) and TEA (100 μL). The reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight before removal of the solvent. The residue is purified on silica gel (0-50% ethyl acetate in hexane) to give 3-{(3S,5R)-1-[4-(4-chlorophenoxy)phenyl]-5-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-2-oxopyrrolidin-3-yl}propyl methanesulfonate (39.1 mg, 99%) as a colorless oil.
