Procedure

To 0.078 mole of chloromethyl α,α-dimethylbenzyl sulfide in 100 ml. of acetone is added 15.3 grams (0.078 mole) of sodium O,O-dimethyl phosphorodithioate followed by stirring overnight. The reaction mixture is maintained at a temperature of 25° C. to 30° C.
