10.0 Grams (56 mmol) of 1-(3,5-dimethylphenoxy)-2-propanone was dissolved in 50 ml of ethanol, and 5.53 g (34 mmol) of hydroxylamine sulfate and 5.66 g (67 mmol) of sodium hydrogencarbonate were added. And, the resultant mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours, and 50 ml of water was added. Ethanol was distilled off under reduced pressure, and the resultant solid precipitate was recovered by filtration, washed with water and dried to give 10.2 g of 1-(3,5-dimethylphenoxy)-2-propanone oxime (yield 92%).
