A mixture of 0.49 g (1.38 mmol) of 1-[(7R,9aS)-2,3,4,6,7,8,9,9a-octahydro-1H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrazin-7-ylmethyl]-1,3-dihydro-indol-2-one dihydrochloride, 0.157 g (1.37 mmol) of 2-chloropyrimidine and 0.64 g (6.02 mmol) of sodium carbonate in 20 mL of water was stirred at 95° C. for 16 h. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, extracted with chloroform (3×), the combined organic phase was washed with brine, dried (magnesium sulfate), filtered and evaporated. Purification by flash silica gel chromatography with 95:5 ethyl acetate:methanol gave 0.181 g (30%) of the title compound. mp (—HCl) 174-176° C. HRMS calcd for C21H25N5O: 363.2059, found: 363.2032.
